Lucknow Campus

The Central Sanskrit University, Lucknow Campus, was established by an Act of Parliament in 2020. The Lucknow Campus has a chequered history. At the outset, it was Kendriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, Lucknow Campus, which sprang into existence in 1986 under the aegis of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi.

The Campus is presently located at Vishal Khand-4, Gomati Nagar, Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. It is located on a piece of land admeasuring 10 acres consisting of Main Buildings with built up area of about 7964 sq. m. In addition to the Main Building, this campus also has Boys’ Hostel with 58 rooms, Girls’ Hostel with 19 rooms and also 9 units of Staff Quarters.

It offers Research Programme leading to the degree of Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D.), Professional Programme, eg Shiksha-Shastri (B.Ed.) and runs Master`s and Bachelor`s Degree Programmes in Vyakarana, Sahitya, Bauddh Darshan and Pali, Jyotisha, Veda and courses of Prak Shastri (Intermediate) level. Modern subjects, such as Hindi, English, Political Science, Economics and Computer Education are also taught along with the traditional subjects in Prak Shastri and Shastri courses.

There is a spacious playground in the campus with Gymnasium. The campus has Library facility equipped with computer and traditional as well as modern books. In the Shiksha-Shastra Vidyashakha, there are Labs relating to (a) Education psychology operational with modern apparatus for psychological tests and (b) Educational technology equipped with various technological and multimedia devices.

The Campus has also the Centre for Pali Studies. It has been functioning for the development of Pali Language and Literature since 2009. There is the Distance Education Centre knows as Muktasvadhyaya Peetham. Of late, the IGNOU Study Centre has also been functioning in this acclaimed campus.
